Extreme Hair Gets Attention

Extreme Hair Gets Attention

I have a friend who is no stranger to wielding extreme hair styles.  Let’s call him Hank.  Hank was recently traveling in Atlantic City for a meeting with clients.  He had some time to kill before his flight so he went to a local bar for a drink.

Hank, a non-typical businessman in an unfamiliar city and with an equally unfamiliar crowd, thought he’d perform a familiar social experiment on stereotypes.  Hank walked into the bar wearing an outfit that would be envied by CEO’s and a hair style wicked enough to put most Punk Rockers to shame: the Blaze-Red Mohawk.  This particular social phenomenon is called the peacock theory.  It worked wonderfully for him.

Now consider, Hank is a good looking gentleman, brandishes a tailored Jay Kos suit, and has confidence of steel.  He was not only noticed by everyone in the bar, he stirred a curiosity powerful enough to prompt women to come talk to him.  How could something with such negative connotation as a Mohawk produce such positive reactions?  Complete Unexpectedness.  Hanks business attire and extreme hair style in combination contrasted so greatly that everyone around him piqued an interest.

The point of this story:  If you wear an extreme hair style, do it with purpose and do it in a way that is empowering rather that self-sabotaging.
