I just got done reading an article describing a sharp decline of the use of bangs in women’s hair styles and thought it would be applicable to men's long hair as well. In the early to mid 90’s bangs were very fashionable. Bangs for women in the 2000’s have almost completely departed except for their use by few high fashion models. This is a trend that I am very a happy to say is almost gone. Of course all trends come back around someday, but that is neither here nor there :)
Note that checkerboard knit sweaters also disappeared in the 90’s and for good reason! A person wouldn’t be caught dead wearing one of those ridiculous sweaters today. I think both men and women who wear bangs are breaking an unwritten law in pop culture. We have to draw the social fluency line somewhere! On occasion I see people with still wearing bangs, but I think they were probably very sheltered as children.
Most men who have long hair have already taken a step into the bold, but c’mon, we can’t be overzealous. Save the bangs for the photo albums! And if you really like having bangs, give it a rest for another twenty years or so and then you’ll be right on top of your game!
